About Us

Our Pastors:

On April 10th, 2016 Pastors Kevin & Kimi Hill became the new Pastors of Central Christian Church and their first Sunday preaching was on the celebrated weekend of the Azusa Street 100 Anniversary. This celebration was inspired by the most powerful expression of revival in modern times from the historic Azusa Street Revival of 1906.

Pastors Kevin and Kim Hill have been in ministry for almost 30 years and received their Masters Diploma from C. Peter Wagner Bible Institute (2003) and their ministerial license through Resurrection Apostolic International Network (R.A.I.N.) in 2006.

From October 2004 through 2016 they were the Healing Rooms Directors for the Big Island of Hawaii and church planted River of Glory Ministry Training Center from 2006 - 2010.  They have homeschooled their five children who are between the ages of 20 - 11 years; 3 boys and 2 girls.

In 2015 they launched their Transformation School using Bethel's School of Supernatural teachings as well as teaching from the Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington.

Their desire is to facilitate revival and transformation in the lives they influence here in Hawaii. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, their aim is to create an atmosphere that God finds irresistible and one He is drawn to by spiritual hunger.

Pastors Kevin & Kimi are excited to see what God is going to do through each of our lives. They invite you to join them in being a part of His marvelous plan in demonstrating His extravagant love to one another and the world.

Our church is over 126 years old and is located in quaint downtown Hilo on the eastside of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Originally the church was dedicated as the Portuguese Evangelical Church with 101 members in December 1892.

As of today in 2018 we still have members in our church congregation whose grandfather and father were part of the congregation who helped to build the church in 1892.

In 1930 the church was altered to include a pastor's office, choir loft, kitchen, and a few classrooms that were finished in 1931.

The name Portuguese Evangelical Church was changed in 1935 to Central Christian Church Hilo.

Culturally we have a diverse congregation who worship together and have become a family who enjoy gathering for fellowship which includes: barbeques, camping and retreats.

If you are looking for a place to worship where the Holy Spirit has liberty to move in our midst, we would like to invite you to come join us for:

  • Sunday Service at 9:00 a.m.

  • Tuesday for the Transformation School at 6:00 p.m. various times of the year. Begins again in October 2018.

Our Mission:

  • To pursue God with passion, purity, and power, resulting in personal and corporate revival.

  • To carry and release the presence of God to transform lives and cultures through a spirit led life.

  • To experience personal life changing encounters with Christ on a continual basis.

  • To fully experience the power of God’s redeeming love through worship, prayer, and His Word.

  • To establish and disciple God’s people in their victorious identity in Christ as Ambassadors of Heaven.

  • To empower Christians to fulfill their God given destiny by encouraging the development of their spiritual gifts and callings.

  • To bring healing, freedom and wholeness to every life until it is over flowing with the fullness of God’s glory.

Our Beliefs:

We believe that the Bible is the sufficient rule of faith and practice, and holds that living in accordance with the teaching of Jesus Christ is the true test of fellowship.

In Matthew 24:35 it says, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." We believe that the Bible was for the express purpose of revealing to man God's plan of redemption, to make clear His everlasting laws and a guide for His children as they make their way through life.

We believe that "all scripture is given by inspiration of God," by which we understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God "were moved by the Holy Spirit" to write the very words of Scripture.

We believe that the whole Bible in the original is therefore without error. We believe that all the Scriptures center about the Lord Jesus Christ in His person and work in His first coming. We believe He will come again, and that no portion, even the Old Testament, is properly read or understood until it leads to Him.

Our Faith:

We believe in the "Trinity", three persons in one God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Godhead manifest in the flesh. We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day.

Marriage:

We believe marriage is a holy covenant with God between a man and a woman. (Genesis 1:27-28; Romans 1:26-27)

Who is Jesus Christ of Nazareth?

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth is an historical figure, whose life has so impacted this world in which we live that the calendar by which we mark time has been altered to reflect his death. 2,018 years from what?

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth was a Jewish man, from the Israeli tribe of Judah, who lived an exemplary life while he was on this earth, and is set forth as a good example for us to follow.

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth was a man who garnered a reputation of being an excellent teacher. To the extent that may people even unto today draw insight and encouragement from what he ministered and touched upon in his teachings.

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth was a man who succeeded the Israeli prophet called John the Baptist, within the nation of Israel, two-thousands years ago. John the Baptist himself declared before his death that, 'he must increase, and I must decrease', and was thereafter arrested and ultimately beheaded.

  • Jesus of Nazareth was accepted, by the common Jewish people, as a prophet of God, and walked in that calling and anointing from the age of thirty until his death.

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth was, and is, the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). Within an active sacrificial system, he was the final, and perfect, sacrifice -- and was offered upon the alter of the cross for the sins of the world.

The offering of his body and his soul (Hebrews 10:10, Isaiah 53:10) was acceptable unto God, and settled that debt that all men owe and none can pay.

Belief in Jesus (John 1:12), and what he has accomplished, will deliver a man or woman from the kingdom and power of darkness, and translate them into the kingdom and blessings of God's dear Son (Colossians 1:13).

  • Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the first begotten of the dead (Revelation 1:5), and has become the New Creation prototype for all those who shall be conformed to his image (Romans 8:29).

    The Bible clearly declares:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

Eternal Salvation:

To receive God's free provision of everlasting life, one need only to believe in their heart and declare with their words, 'Lord Jesus please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me with your precious blood, and make me a New Creation, that I may live with you and with my Father in heaven, without sin, forevermore.'

A simple acceptance of what God has freely provided will change one's entire future destiny. Make the best decision you will ever make by doing just that - Today.

God's blessing upon you as you do!
